Erik Blood at Chop Suey July 6th

It's been a busy spring and its going to be a busy summer. Busy=good!

'MO-WAVE is almost here!

Getting really excited for next week's 'Mo-Wave Festival.  Three days of queer music and art at Chop Suey, Wildrose, and Pony.  The line-up is amazing and I'm honored to be among the performers.  Check it out here.

Me and my band will be performing on Saturday, April 13, at Chop Suey at around 7pm. I'll be sandwiched between Night Cadet (whom I had the pleasure of recording) and Wishbeard (whom I've yet to have the pleasure of recording).  The entire line-up is fucking amazing.  You gotta go.

Album Release Party Tomorrow Night!

TOUCH SCREENS release day was a blast. Now, on to the release party!



Come celebrate the release of TOUCH SCREENS with me at The Crocodile tomorrow night (Aug. 9) at 8PM. Hotels and Stres open, it's ALL AGES, and only $8. You can pick up a copy of the limited-edition colored vinyl album of TOUCH SCREENS (almost sold out!) and spend the entire evening watching and listening to some good music. I might have a little surprise in store, as well. Who can say.

Did you see this shit in the Seattle Times yesterday? "Lush is an understatement. It's bigger than that. A beast of an album." DAMN! (SIDENOTE: I hope no one got in serious trouble at the Times for running the original album artwork in the print edition. Whoops!)

If you're a Seattle record store patron, you can pick up TOUCH SCREENS at Easy Street, Sonic Boom, Wall of Sound, and Everyday Music (Capitol Hill location only). Not sure any more stores will get added to this list because we're almost sold out of the limited-edition vinyl.

Tonight is the first night of "CLOUDLESS", a new annual music festival brought to us by our friends at The Color Awesome (thecolorawesome.com). Two nights of amazing music at The Comet Tavern here in Seattle.

"So Many Things" Video

I'm excited to announce the premiere of a video for "So Many Things" from my forthcoming soundtrack Music From the Film CENTER OF GRAVITY. The film was directed by Steven Richter, and the video was edited by Brian O'Shea.
The soundtrack will be available on your favorite digital store on the 18th, but you can watch the video NOW here:

The film is due to premiere at the Sao Paolo International Film Festival later this month.

Coming Soon: Music From the Film CENTER OF GRAVITY

I did a full score and some songs for an indie film shot in Brazil - "Center of Gravity" or "Centro de Gravidade".
It's coming out October 18th. It's my first work for film.

You can preorder at my Bandcamp page, and you can preview the tracks on the Amazon listing.
Once released it will be available for download at all the usual online spots - iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp et al.

Here's the spiel:

CENTER OF GRAVITY is a film written and directed by Steven Richter, with original music by Erik Blood, starring Julio Machado and Ana Carolina Lima.
The film was shot in six days in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with two cameras, a low budget and minimal crew.

Based on the story "Pity for the World", by American writer David Plante, and set in Brazil, CENTER OF GRAVITY deals with universal questions about love and our expectations toward the beloved, the thin line that simultaneously divides and unites one another.

This is Erik Blood's first work for film.
releases 18 October 2011.

MiniRex has a new album out. I produced, engineered and mixed it last year. Dave Segal just wrote in the Stranger:

One new song my band and I will be playing is from a soundtrack I recently completed for a Brazillian indie film called "Center of Gravity" (centro de gavidade).

Another November with The Moondoggies

Two years ago, I spent nine days in November drinking cheap beer, smoking Camel Lights, and eating fast food while tracking a total of 23 songs with The Moondoggies. It was our first time working together and I always try to push a band to make as much music in the first few days as possible. What I didn't know was they were going to push back. 23 fucking songs! Really! And to make things even better, we finished them all. 13 of them found their way to the debut album "Don't Be a Stranger".

This Friday, November 13th, I get to revisit this experience (minus the cigarettes.) 10 days in November, plus 5 days in December will produce a brand new Moondoggies album which will include songs we've heard and loved at their recent live shows ("What Took So Long" and "Uncertain" spring to mind) and brand new material I just can't wait to commit to tape.

I'm just sayin'...

7:30 p.m. ~ Erik Blood Erik Blood must have taken all this renewed Beatles fervor to heart, because he's getting by with a little help from his friends. In assembling his seven-piece backing band, Blood's swiped members from his former band the Turn-Ons, his current band the Little Penguins, a guy from Coulter, and another one from Altspeak. It seems the benefit of being a producer/artist is getting to poach your favorite musicians to work on your own project. This set will feature all the great tracks off his fabulous debut The Way We Live and a yet-to-be-recorded track about adult cinema, which promises to be the prettiest song about porno you've ever heard. That's at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard, by the way. Right before me and my band is Telepathic Liberation Army who are not to be missed. Other suggestions from me are Brent Amaker & the Rodeo, Fresh Espresso, Levator, Cute Lepers, Tea Cozies, Coconut Coolouts, and Redwood Plan, all of which are kind of happening around the same time as each other so you can't lose, but you can never really win.

Also, my girls from THEE Satisfaction are back in town to perform for us at NY Fashion Academy at 9:30. If you haven't seen them, you really need to. They'll put a smile on the most sullen face and bring a sway to the most rigid hips.
